Rocco Terrigno

Owner of Osteria De Medici and Master Chef, Rocco Terrigno embarked on his culinary journey at the early age of thirteen. Traveling to Rome where he was mentored by Italy's great chefs, Rocco learned the exquisite art of Mediterranean and Italian cuisine. As Switzerland was the Mecca of culinary artistry during the 1960s, Rocco traveled to Saint Moritz at the age of fifteen to hone his skills and to realize his dream of becoming a Master Chef. Soon thereafter, his talents where recognized and he became a recognized chef at one of Switzerland's most prestigious hotels. After eight years of working in one of Europe's most recognized kitchens and gaining rich culinary experience in Europe, Rocco moved to Montreal where he began to mentor stars within the Canadian culinary scene.

His strong family values and entrepreneurial spirit led him to purchase a quaint Italian restaurant in Calgary in 1976. He named it Renato's and it soon became known as Calgary's best Italian restaurant gaining accolades from the most recognized critics. Throughout over forty years of creating unforgettable cuisine, Rocco has received awards stretching the North American and European continents; notably, he was awarded the title of Canadian Ambassador to Canada, a title he holds affectionately. To this day, he remains committed to creating the finest cuisine at the Osteria.
