Rocco Terrigno
Owner of Osteria
De Medici and Master Chef, Rocco Terrigno embarked on his culinary
journey at the early age of thirteen. Traveling to Rome where he
was mentored by Italy's great chefs, Rocco learned the exquisite
art of Mediterranean and Italian cuisine. As Switzerland was the
Mecca of culinary artistry during the 1960s, Rocco traveled to Saint
Moritz at the age of fifteen to hone his skills and to realize his
dream of becoming a Master Chef. Soon thereafter, his talents where
recognized and he became a recognized chef at one of Switzerland's
most prestigious hotels. After eight years of working in one of
Europe's most recognized kitchens and gaining rich culinary experience
in Europe, Rocco moved to Montreal where he began to mentor stars
within the Canadian culinary scene.
His strong
family values and entrepreneurial spirit led him to purchase a quaint
Italian restaurant in Calgary in 1976. He named it Renato's and
it soon became known as Calgary's best Italian restaurant gaining
accolades from the most recognized critics. Throughout over forty
years of creating unforgettable cuisine, Rocco has received awards
stretching the North American and European continents; notably,
he was awarded the title of Canadian Ambassador to Canada, a title
he holds affectionately. To this day, he remains committed to creating
the finest cuisine at the Osteria.
